Over 76 Percent of Student-Athletes Notch GPA Over 3.0

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist student-athletes enjoyed tremendous success in the Fall 2022 semester.
 
Highlights
  • The department's grade-point average for this past semester was 3.330.
  • The department's cumulative grade-point average now stands at 3.351.
  • A total of 41 student-athletes had a perfect 4.0 GPA.
  • Percentage of student-athletes with a GPA of 3.5 or above this past semester: 50.3%
  • Percentage of student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or above this past semester: 76.4%
  • Of Marist's 23 Division I programs, 22 had a team GPA of at least 3.0 in the Fall 2022 semester.
  • The top overall team GPA went to volleyball (3.801). The top men's team GPA went to baseball (3.492).
  • In addition to volleyball, the following team GPAs were over 3.5: women's basketball (3.651), softball (3.603), women's cross country (3.584), and women's indoor/outdoor track & field (3.546).
  • The following student-athletes were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District:
    • Women's Soccer: Leah Barbieri, Samantha Caldarelli, Natalie Kelchner, Bella Lazzaro, Lauryn Schmidt
    • Men's Soccer: Andre Cutler-DeJesus, Bernardo Gracindo, Liam Salmon
    • Volleyball: McKinley Fox, Jordan Newblatt, Morgan Owens, Sasha van der Merwe
    • Football: Mike Arrington, Jayson Colorado, Justin Iaccio, Quinn Knox, Brandon Lysick, Christian Pritzlaff
  • A total of 75 student-athletes were named to MAAC All-Academic Teams. Women's cross country (19 selections) and volleyball (14) led their respective sports.
  • Football's Mike Arrington was First Team Academic All-Pioneer Football League, which is voted on by the league's sports information directors. Arrington was one of 53 football players named to the Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team.
  • The following were honored as MAAC Student-Athlete of the Week: McKinley Fox (volleyball), Chris Paxis (cross country/track & field), Julianna Bonilla (women's basketball).
