Women's Basketball Travels to Emmitsburg

Red Foxes Face Mountaineers for First Time Since 1997

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team heads down to Emmitsburg, Md. to take on Mount St. Mary's on Thursday night at 7. The Red Foxes will face the Mount for the first time since 1997.

Last Time Out
  • The Marist women's basketball team fell to Fairfield Saturday night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup.
  • The Stags took an early 3-0 lead. The teams remained scoreless for two minutes of the first quarter with the Stags leading 3-2. At the end of the first the teams were tied at five apiece.
  • Fairfield and Marist entered a scoreless drought for about four minutes in the second quarter. The Stags ended their scoring drought from a three-pointer from Jocelyn Polansky.
  • The Red Foxes ended their scoring drought with a step back jumper from Kiara Fisher.
  • Entering halftime, the Stags led 13-11.
  • There were six lead changes in the third quarter. The Stags held the advantage over the Red Foxes to end the third quarter 28-25.
  • Fairfield took their largest lead of the game with a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter. Marist was defeated by Fairfield 43-34.
     
About Mount St. Mary's
  • The two teams have not met since 1997, when the Mount defeated Marist 69-42.
  • The Mount is currently 7-9 overall and 3-4 in MAAC play.
  • Mount St. Mary's is coming off an 1-1 week, with a loss against Iona and a victory against Canisius.
  • In their last outing against Canisius, the Mount had five players scoring in double figures; Jo Raflo (16), Natalie Villaflor (14), Jessica Tomasetti (12), Aryna Taylor (11), and Michaela Harrison (10).
