Swim & Dive Prepares For Season Opener Against Canisius

Red Foxes Return To McCann Natatorium For Dual Meet

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist swim and dive program begins the 2023-24 season against MAAC opponent Canisius, Friday morning. The Red Foxes look to capitalize off a successful 2022-23 season in their dual meet.

Head coach of the Red Foxes, Anthony Randall, enters his third season as the Red Foxes coach. The Red Foxes recently added Abigail String as assistant coach to aid in a successful season.

The men's program was selected second in the 2023-24 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll with one first place vote. The women's program was selected to finish third in the MAAC in the Coaches' Poll.

 
Captains
  • Gianna Perugini:
    • Perugini finished sixteenth at the ECAC Championships, being part of the 200-yard freestyle relay. Perugini was selected to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
  • Sophia Swanson:
    • Swanson delivered three bronze medals at the MAAC Championships for the Red Foxes. Swanson earned bronze in the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard IM relay, and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
  • James Conable:
    • Conable won the 400-yard IM at the MAAC Championships, earning the gold medal. Conable also earned a silver medal at the MAAC Championships in the 400-yard freestyle. Conable earned MAAC Swimmer of the Week during the 2022-23 season.
  • Christopher Dauser:
    • Dauser earned two silver medals at the MAAC Championships in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. Dauser also earned MAAC All-Academic Team honors.
  
2022-23 Season Recap
  • The men's program finished the regular season at 5-3 overall and 2-1 in MAAC meets.
    • The men finished second overall at the MAAC Championships.
  • The women's program finished the regular season at 4-4 overall and 2-1 in MAAC meets.
    • The women finished third overall at the MAAC Championships.
 
Scouting Canisius
  • The Golden Griffins finished fifth in both the women's and men's programs at the MAAC Championships.
  • Last season, the Red Foxes men's team defeated Canisius 151-147 and the women's team fell 135.5-164.5
  
Up Next
  • The Red Foxes compete in a dual meet at Fordham University.
  • The meet is slated for Oct. 19 and first swim at 5 p.m.
