SARATOGA, New York - The Marist Men's Rowing Team closed out their fall season this weekend at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs NY. The Head of the Fish is a 3.2km race course located on the Fish Creek where it enters Saratoga Lake. Marist competed on a busy regatta day against teams from at least 30 other college programs from around the northeast and Canada. The team raced in 6 categories. The weather was unseasonably warm with temps in the 70's. Most of the day was raced in a gusty 10-15mph headwind which caused some rougher water in the last 2km of the race course.

Collegiate Single
Two Marist Athletes raced in the Collegiate Single Category
Gavin Crouch (sr): pulled a time of 13:22.31 and placed 2nd.
Thomas Graves (jr): pulled a time of 14:49.93 and placed 9th.
There were 13 oarsmen in the race.

Collegiate Quad
James Hadjandreas (stroke), Peter Martinich (3), Andrew Davis(2), and Matthias Topping (bow) raced in the open/collegiate quad against  13 other crews and placed 8th with a time of 12:47.95.

Collegiate Four
Marist Had 3 boats entered in this category. The crew were composed of:
A)    Tessa Kurtzman (cox), Gavin Crouch (stroke), Holden Kopcsik (3), Thomas Graves (2) Andrew Davis (bow). This boat pulled a time of 12:23.32 to place 4th.
B)    Matthew Wright (cox), Evan Brown (stroke), Nolan Libby (3), Liam Klemm (2), Drew Ngo (bow). The crew pulled a time of 12:49.01 to place 14th.
C)    Robert Sasso (cox), Peter Martinich (stroke), Axel Anderegg-Durwood (3)  Connor Tandy (2), Zak Schwarz (bow). This crew pulled at time of 13:27.49 to place 24th.
There were 39 crews in the category.

Collegiate Frosh/Novice Eight
This crew was composed of Joe Wyrozemski (cox), Tristan Wistuba (stroke), James Hadjandreas (7), Mason Roy (6), Dylan Kresge (5), Mason Lockowitz (4), Nolan Keane (3), Pedro Guitian (2), Matthias Topping (bow). The crew pulled a time of 12:26.70 and placed 3rd out of 13 crews.

Collegiate Varsity Eight
Composed of Tessa Kurtzman (cox), Gavin Crouch (stroke), Holden Kopcsik (7), Mason Roy (6), Nolan Libby (5), Andrew Davis (4), Liam Klemm (3), Drew Ngo (2), and Thomas Graves (bow). This boat placed 7th out of 15 with a time of 11:11.73.

Collegiate Second Varsity Eight
Composed of Matthew Wright (cox), Evan Brown (stroke), James Hadjandreas (7), Peter Martinich (6), Axel Anderegg-Durwood (5), Tristan Wistuba (4), Matthias Topping (3), Connor Tandy (2), Zakary Schwarz (bow). This crew placed 5th out of 15 crews with a time of 11:39.30.

Collegiate Frosh/Novice Four
Marist had 2 boats entered in this category. The crew were composed of:
A)    Joe Wyrozemski (cox), Pedro Guitian (stroke), Dylan Kresge (3), Mason Lockowitz (2), Nolan Keane (bow). This boat pulled a time of 15:03.34 and placed 11th.
B)    Robert Sasso (cox), John McGowen (stroke), Caden Todd (3), Thomas Coniglio (2), Brandon Wynn (bow). This crew pulled a time of 18:06.06 and place 14th.

"We had a great close to our fall season this weekend. The team had opportunities to row and race in a variety of categories which was a lot of fun. Overall we showed definite signs of improvement from our 2022-23 season and the varsity eight had a better run in Saratoga than their previous two races.
