Red Foxes, Retrievers Meet for the First Time

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday with a road game against UMBC of the America East Conference. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
 
On the Air
  • Brandon Ross (play-by-play) and Steve Eggink (analyst) have the call on the Red Fox Network and Varsity Network app.
  • The pre-game show will start at 3:15.
  • The game will be shown live on ESPN+ with Gary Stein (play-by-play) and Rick Moreland (analyst) on the call.
 
Last Time Out
  • Marist earned a 71-55 win at Army West Point to open its season on Monday.
  • The Red Foxes had four double-digit scorers (Max Allen II, 13; Isaiah Brickner, 13; Jadin Collins, 12; Jackson Price, 10).

Status Update
  • This is the first meeting between Marist & UMBC.

  • In its 43 years as a Division I program, Marist has never had a 2-0 start with both victories being on the road.
 
Notes from the Opener
  • Marist's 71-55 season-opening win at Army West Point was its largest margin of victory in a season opener since 1999. The Red Foxes led by double digits for the final 24:22 of the game.
  • Marist had 11 players see action at Army, with 10 scoring points, eight having at least three rebounds, six having a steal, four scoring in double digits, and three having at least four assists.
  • Freshmen Jadin Collins and Josh Pascarelli were both in the starting lineup at Army. It marked the first time Marist started multiple freshmen in its season opener since 2014.
  • Marist has now won four of its last five season openers.
 
On the Road Again
  • Marist will play its first four games on the road this season.
  • This is the Red Foxes' longest stretch away from home to start a season since 2011-12, when Marist also played its first four games away from McCann Arena.
 
About UMBC
  • The Retrievers opened their season with a 94-93 loss to ACC foe Louisville on Monday.
  • UMBC led by as much as 13 in the first half.
  • Dion Brown had a game-high 28 points, while Bryce Johnson had 21.
  • UMBC went 18-14 last season, and was picked sixth in this year's America East Preseason Poll.
  • Head coach Jim Ferry is in his third season at the helm.
