POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist football team and the Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement will be hosting their fifth annual Set The Expectation game on Saturday at Tenney Stadium. The Red Foxes will take on Bucknell for a noon kickoff on Senior Day.
 
The sponsors for Set The Expectation include student clubs the purple thread, Marist It's On Us, and Marist Title IX.

Set The Expectation is a campaign that helps student-athletes and coaches across the nation aid in the ending of sexual assault and physical violence. The founder of the organization is Brenda Tracy, who is a survivor of physical violence and travels to campuses across the nation to spread her message. She previously visited Marist in the spring of 2017, and she served as honorary captain for the Red Foxes' 2022 Set The Expectation game against Presbyterian.

On Saturday, players will honor the cause by wearing purple and teal ribbons on their helmets. In addition, coaches will be wearing the Set The Expectation shirts. Fans will be able to help show their support in stopping physical violence and sexual assault while in attendance by purchasing bracelets, and signing a community pledge. Cupcakes and hot chocolate will be available.

The Red Foxes will be raising money again for Grace Smith House, which is a private non-profit that provides goods and services to those who were victimized by domestic violence. Shelter, counseling, transitional housing, advocacy, safety planning, preventive education, and more are offered by Grace Smith House to the residents of Dutchess County. Donations will be collected at the game, and can also be made here.

The Marist Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement and football program have a shared history of supporting causes aimed at ending violence against women. In 2008, Marist football players Dan Smith and Al Ruiz were responsible for bringing the White Ribbon Campaign to campus, which is regarded as the largest worldwide movement aimed at ending violence against women. The White Ribbon campaign continues to be an annual event on campus.
