Women's Basketball Takes Overtime Victory Against Lafayette

Zaria Shazer Put up 29 Points and Nine Rebounds in Win

EASTON, Pennsylvania - The Marist women's basketball team took an important 84-76 victory over Lafayette on Wednesday night.

QTR1
  • The Leopards struck first with a three-pointer.
  • The Red Foxes scored 10 straight points with contributions from Julia Corsentino, Lexie Tarul, Jackie Piddock and Zaria Shazer.
  • The Red Foxes continued to control the quarter, closing things out with a scoreline of 20-11.
QTR2
  • The Red Foxes started the second quarter with the same pace of play that they had in the first.
  • Julia Corsentino and Zaria Shazer kicked off the scoring in the second before the Leopards began to make a push.
  • Lafayette managed to significantly cut down their deficit to only one point as the half ended 28-27.

  • Jackie Piddock sank a three to get things started in the third quarter, with Julia Corsentino adding two from inside the paint shortly after.
  • The Red Foxes continued to extend their lead throughout the third frame, eventually closing things out with a 53-40 lead.

  • Morgan Lee got the Red Foxes their first points of the fourth quarter with a jumper.
  • Zaria Shazer continued her dominant play in the fourth quarter, hitting 23 points before the frame closed.
  • Despite this, Lafayette was able to battle back and tie the game 67-67 before time ran out.

  • Though the Leopards battled to get back into the game, they were unable to keep up with the Red Foxes in overtime.
  • Having made the mistake of letting Lafayette back into the game, Marist was not willing to let a win slip from their fingers.
  • A standout performance from Zaria Shazer in OT helped the Red Foxes eventually close out the game with a scoreline of 84-76.
STATS
  • Zaria Shazer had an outstanding game, tying a career high number of points with 29, alongside nine rebounds and eight assists.
  • Julia Corsentino had a standout performance as well with 23 points, hitting 4-6 of her shots from outside the arc.
  • Jackie Piddock collected 13 points on the night, hitting four of her six field goal attempts.
