Marist Comes Up Just Short at Notre Dame

Allen Scores 14; Collins Contributes 12 Points, Five Assists, Four Rebounds, & Three Steals

Box Score SOUTH BEND, Indiana – The Marist men's basketball team fell to Notre Dame by a score of 60-56 on Friday night at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.
 
Summary
  • A 6-0 run, which included a three-pointer by Max Allen II, lifted Marist to a 10-4 lead at the 16:09 mark for the first half.
  • Notre Dame battled back to tie the game at 12, but layups by Jaden Daughtry and Jadin Collins on consecutive possessions lifted Marist to a 16-12 advantage at the 8:53 mark.
  • A three-pointer by Matt Zona gave Notre Dame its first lead with 7:17 left in the half.
  • Notre Dame extended its lead to four on two occasions, but Marist grabbed the lead back with a 7-0 run. The Red Foxes took a 25-24 lead to the locker room.

  • This was the third all-time meeting between Marist and Notre Dame. The most recent one was 19 years ago to the day today. The first took place on Nov. 26, 1983.
  • This was Marist's first contest against an ACC team since the Red Foxes opened the 2016-17 season at Duke.
  • Allen has now led Marist in scoring five times this season. He leads the Red Foxes with six double-figure scoring games.
  • In his last five games, Collins is averaging 10.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting .586 (17-for-29) from the field.
