Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's tennis team rolled to their second consecutive win of the spring season by defeating Binghamton, 5-2, in a match played at Cross Court Tennis in Wappingers. The win evened the teams record at 2-2 for the campaign.Â
The Lady Foxes overcame a 1-0 deficit after losing the doubles point in a tiebreaker, reeling off five consecutive singles wins, led by sophomore
Andriana Zaphiris at #6, who evened the score with a convincing straight set win. Marist freshman
Cloe Clements garnered the second point at #3 singles, followed by junior captain
Deana Giambo at #1, both winning in straight sets. Junior
Isabella Tonuzi clinched the match with a three-set win at #5 and sophomore Ellen Zurieck closed out the scoring with a three-set win at #4 singles.
" This was a true test of the team's character, " said Director of Tennis
Gary Sussman.  " We were serving for the doubles point and just  were not able to close it out. But the ladies responded, just as they did last week under similar circumstances, and came away with the win."
