HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Marist softball team split its two games on its final day at the Bank of Hawaii Invitational. The Red Foxes fell 9-4 to Seattle in the first game of the day, but rebounded for an 11-1 triumph over St. Bonaventure in five innings in game two.
Haley Ahr had a team-high four hits on the day.
Marist went 3-3 on the trip, and the Red Foxes are now 4-7 on the season.
- Seattle took a 2-0 lead in the first. Sydney Frankenberger had an RBI single and scored on a wild pitch.
- Seattle scored six in the second. Frankenberger had a two-run single.
- RBI singles by Alyssa Grupp and Meghan Davis cut Seattle's lead to 8-2 in the fourth.
- Sam Freeland scored on a wild pitch in the fifth.
- Seattle added a run on the bottom of the fifth, and then Peyton Pusey came home on a Maddie Pleasants groundout to close out the scoring in the seventh.
- Grupp and Haley Ahr each had two hits.
- Isabella Manory's bases-loaded walk forced home Sam Freeland in the top of the first.
- St. Bonaventure tied the game in the second, but Marist answered with four in the third, which included a two-run single by Haley Ahr and RBI singles from Maddie Pleasants and Reese Wilson.
- The Red Foxes scored five more in the fourth. Ahr had a three-run double, Wilson had an RBI single, and Hannah Brock contributed an RBI triple.
- Manory drew another bases-loaded walk in the fifth to close out the scoring.
- Calista Phippen struck out seven and tossed a three-hitter.
- Ahr drove in five, and Freeland scored three times.
- Marist had 12 hits. Freeland, Ahr, Wilson, and Brock had two apiece.
- Marist will play five games from Friday-Sunday at the Maroon & Gold Challenge in Charleston, South Carolina.
- The Red Foxes will play three games against Cleveland State, and two against College of Charleston.
