TAMPA, Florida- The Marist softball team dropped two games on the second day of competition at the USF Tournament. The Red Foxes fell to Illinois 7-5 and 2-0 against USF.
 

Game One Vs Illinois

• Illinois opened the scoring with one in the first and added two in the second. 
• Marist took the lead with a four-run third thanks to a three-run double by Haley Ahr. 
• Illinois took the lead back with two in the bottom of the third and added two more in the fourth. 
• Ahr's RBI double in the fifth brought home Peyton Pusey. 
• Marist had runners on second and third in the top of the seventh but was unable to score. 
• The Red Foxes fell 7-5 to Illinois.
• Ahr went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs. Sam Freeland also had two hits. 
• Maddie Pleasants pitched a complete game and struck out three. 
• Delaney Rummell went 3-for-4 with a double, stolen base, run scored, and RBI for Illinois. 

 

Game Two Vs USF

• Reese Wilson singled for the first Red Foxes hit in the second inning.
• Hannah Brock singled for the second Red Foxes hit in the third inning.
• USF took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning 1-0.
• South Florida extended the lead in the sixth inning to 2-0.
• The Red Foxes fell to USF 2-0.
• Calista Phippen pitched a complete game and tallied four strikeouts.
