PHILADEPLHIA, Pennsylvania-On Saturday the Marist Men's Rowing Team attended the 2023 Murphy Cup Regatta in Philadelphia PA. The Regatta, hosted by Temple University played host to 9 men's programs. Marist was entered in the Varsity Eight and 2nd Varsity Eight events. 

 

The Varsity Eight consisted of Allie Bohenko (cox), Liam Cusack (stroke), Axel Anderegg-Durwood (7), Gavin Crouch (6), Jack Engel (5), Thomas Graves (4), Alex Salvatore (3), Matthew Welch (2), and Justin Kent (Bow). The Varsity Eight first raced in a heat where they place 3rd with a time of 5:58.5 and just behind St. Joe's at 5:56.85. This advanced the crew to the Grand Final where they faced 5 other crews. The crew placed 4th with a time of 5:59.22 behind 1st place Temple (5:42), LaSalle (5:45) and St. Joes (5:51) and ahead of Lehigh (6:05) and Loyola (6:12) 

The 2nd Varsity Eight consisted of Kayla-Ann Lewis (cox), Evan Brown (stroke), Andrew Davis (7), Liam Klemm (6), Nolan Libby (5), Peter Martinich (4), Zachary Schwarz (3), Connor Tandy (2), and Drew Ngo (bow). The 2V placed 2nd in their heat with a time of 6:21.3 behind Temple A and ahead of Loyala and St Mary's. This allowed the crew to progress to the grand final where they placed 5th with a time of 5:29.85 behind LaSalle (5:54), Temple A (5:57), Temple B (6:08), St Joes (6:13) and ahead of Loyola (6:47).

Marist will be back in competition next Sunday April 16th at Mercer Lake in Princeton NJ where the team will face Holy Cross, Georgetown and Temple.
