POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team split its doubleheader against Big East foe Seton Hall on Tuesday. The Pirates took the first game 6-3, and the Red Foxes took only five innings to win with a score of 11-3. In game two.
Calista Phippen pitched a complete game and earned her 50
th career win in the circle with the Red Foxes in game two.

- The first inning saw Marist get on the board early with a Maddie Pleasants RBI single.
- Seton Hall answered back with five runs in the second.
- Marist would get one back in the third, as pinch-runner Lauren Morrell came home on an RBI by Reese Wilson.
- Seton Hall would remain on top for the rest of the game, scoring one more in the fourth inning.
- Kiley Myers pitched scoreless innings of relief with six strikeouts.
- Marist scored the game's final run in the seventh when Alyssa Grupp's RBI double brought in Sam Freeland.
- Grupp, Pleasants, and Wilson all had two hits and an RBI.
- Marist opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first, as Grupp drove in two runners with a single. This capped off an 11-pitch at bat.
- Seton Hall took one back in the third inning with a Lela Allen double.
- Marist stormed right back, scoring four in the bottom of the third with help from Pleasants' bases-clearing double. Grupp would then drive Pleasants in shortly after.
- Marist would hold the Pirates to no runs in the fourth, as they would pile on five more to go up 11-1. Morrell got the party started as she would hit her first home run of her career to left field, a two-run shot.
- The fifth inning saw the Pirates make a slight push back, getting two runs in before Andrea Perez hit a foul ball that was secured by Grupp to close out the game in five innings.
- Grupp finished with four RBIs, while Pleasants had three.
- Peyton Pusey scored three runs, while Freeland and Shea Walsh had two apiece.
- Phippen needed just 68 pitches to get through five innings.
- Marist is now 19-22 overall.
- Seton Hall is now 30-19 overall.Â
- Marist goes on the road to MAAC rival Rider Saturday, April 22, for a doubleheader.Â
