Baseball Falls In Extra Innings To Manhattan

Red Foxes Used Seven Hits To Score Five Runs

POMONA, New York- The Marist baseball team fell in extra innings to Manhattan 6-5. The back-and-forth game two of the series between the Red Foxes and Japsers ended in heartbreaking fashion.
 
Summary
  • In the first inning, the Red Foxes loaded the bases with no outs with two walks (Dylan Hoy and Brian Hart) and a single by Niko Amory. The Red Foxes scored the first run of the game on a Justin Kapuscinski fielder's choice.
  • Drake Quinn pitched a scoreless bottom-half of the first inning for the Red Foxes.
  • In the second inning, the Red Foxes extended their score to 2-0 on a stolen base by Johnny Decker and a throwing error by Manhattan. Brian Hart brought home Hoy on a sacrifice fly which gave the Red Foxes a 3-0 lead.

  • The Jaspers scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning which cut into the Red Foxes lead 3-2.
  • Jack Bowery relieved Quinn and pitched a scoreless sixth inning for the Red Foxes.
  • In the seventh inning, Dylan Hoy led off with a single through the right side. The Red Foxes went scoreless in the inning after a double play ended scoring momentum.
  • Manhattan took the lead after two runs in the seventh inning 4-3.
  • In the top-half of the eighth inning, Bayram Hot singled to reach base with one out. Nicholas Butler followed Hot with a walk, which put runners in scoring position for the Red Foxes. Marco Ali tied the game at 4-4 with a single which brought home Hot. The Red Foxes took the lead at 5-4 on a fielder's choice.
  • The Jaspers tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning at 5-5 which brought the game to extra innings.
