Baseball Falls In Rubber Match To Manhattan

Red Foxes Comeback Stopped Short

POMONA, New York- The Marist baseball team fell to Manhattan in the rubber match, Sunday evening. The Red Foxes comeback stopped short, dropping the game 10-6 against the Jaspers.

 
Summary
  • On the first at bat of the game, Dylan Hoy hit his second home run of the season and put the Red Foxes ahead 1-0. Followed by Hoy's home run, Niko Amory walked and Justin Kapuscinski singled with two outs in the inning.
  • Zane Kmietek pitched a scoreless bottom-half of the first inning for the Red Foxes.
  • Ethan Conrad started the second inning with a leadoff single. Conrad moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Marco Ali. Conrad scored on a wild pitch which extended the Red Foxes' lead to 2-0. Dylan Hoy reached base on a walk with two outs in the inning. Bayram Hot followed Hoy with a single which put runners at first and third. The Red Foxes came out of the second inning with one run.
  • Manhattan took the lead in the bottom-half of the second inning at 5-2. In the bottom of the third, Manhattan increased its lead to 8-2 on four hits.
  • In the fourth inning, Ethan Conrad singled and stole second which put the Red Foxes in scoring position. Dylan Hoy doubled down right field which brought home Conrad and cut the deficit to 8-3. Brian Hart singled which brought home Hoy and put runners at first and second with two outs in the fourth (8-4).
  • John Hacker pitched a scoreless bottom of the fourth for the Red Foxes.
  • In the top-half of the fifth inning, Justin Kapuscinski walked for the Red Foxes. A double play ended scoring momentum for the Red Foxes.
  • In the top of the sixth inning, Marco Ali started with a double down the left field line. Colin Mackle followed Ali with another double, which put runners at second and third with no outs. Ali scored on a Dylan Hoy groundout which cut the deficit to 8-5. Mackle scored on Bayram Hot's sacrifice fly which put the Red Foxes down 8-6.
  • John Hacker pitched his third consecutive scoreless inning in the bottom-half of the sixth.
  • Danny Keon relieved Hacker in the bottom of the seventh and pitched a scoreless inning for the Red Foxes.
  • To start the eighth inning, Colin Mackle singled through the right side of the infield for the Red Foxes. Brian Hart walked with two outs in the inning which put the tying runs on for the Red Foxes. The Red Foxes left the inning scoreless.
  • Manhattan added to its lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with two runs (10-6).
  • Red Foxes fell to Manhattan 10-6
