POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist baseball team took down Iona in a three-game series as the Red Foxes jump to 6-9 in MAAC conference play. The Red Foxes defeated the Gaels in a 13-12 comeback win, early Sunday morning.
 

Summary

• The Gaels jumped out to an early lead on the Red Foxes as they led 3-0 through the first two innings.
• Marist was able to get on the board in the bottom of the third inning as Justin Kapuscinski hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield and Dylan Hoy scored as Marist trail 3-1 heading into the top of the fourth.
• Iona was able to score three more runs as they extended their lead to 9-1 at the bottom of the fifth inning.
• Brian Hart was able getting scoring going again for the Red Foxes as he was able to hit a grand slam for Marist as they cut down the Iona 9-6.
• Marist continued to keep the bats hot as they added three more unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie up the game.
• The Gaels scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning as they regained the lead 12-9 however, the Red Foxes were able to answer back as they scored three more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Justin Kapuscinski hit a single to center to get the leading run home.
• Jack Bowery was able to close out the game for the Red Foxes as they held off the Gaels to take the series 2-1.
