POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – A total of ten student-athletes were recognized Friday at the Honors Program and Baccalaureate Medal Ceremonies, which took place at McCann Arena.

Two student-athletes also earned Baccalaureate awards at the College's ceremony. The honorees were Greta Stuckey (Women's Cross Country/Track & Field) and Tyler Wenzel (Men's Swimming & Diving).

Award for Excellence in Communication
This award is given to the graduating communication major who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and a significant level of service to the College and the community.

Greta Stuckey is the managing editor of the Marist Circle. During her time at Marist, she has held three journalism internships. She also writes freelance articles for Westchester Magazine and was an inaugural Marist Poll Fellow in the summer of 2022. She is the captain of the Division I women's cross country and track teams, a resident assistant, a board member of Ladies Empowering Athletics Program (LEAP), a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, and a member of the Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists. She has made the Dean's List every semester and was part of the MAAC All-Academic Team for multiple seasons.

The Boehringer Ingelheim Award for Excellence in Scientific Research
This award is given to a student selected by the School of Science faculty in recognition of overall academic performance with a primary focus on achievement in research.

Tyler Wenzel is a biology major with a chemistry minor and a member of the Honors program. He completed five semesters of research at Marist and spent two summers interning at Pfizer. Posters at regional and international meetings have featured his work, and he will be co-first author on an upcoming publication investigating protein glycosylation in mammalian cells. He competed as a member of the men's diving team for four years and as captain in his senior year. In the fall, he will pursue a PhD in molecular, cellular, and integrative biosciences at Penn State University
