VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania – The Marist women's soccer team was defeated in its season opener against Villanova. The Wildcats shut the Red Foxes out 3-0 in their season opener.
"We have said it from day one of preseason that our non-conference slate is extremely difficult and set up that way so we can grow through these challenges and learn to compete at a high level in the MAAC. No one wants to lose 3-0 but that is where our heads are at right now; just focused on learning from the experience each and every game! Villanova was a great test, they were very athletic and moved the ball well but we took a lot of positives out of our performance today," said head coach
Nicole Pacapelli. "We showed a lot of belief in ourselves and what we are trying to do, rotated through a lot of players and everyone left it all out on the field. I'm proud of the start and know we are in a really good position to compete!"
