POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist volleyball team begins its 2023 season with a two-match double header against Texas State and UT-Martin Friday, August 25. The first match against Texas State is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. following that the Red Foxes take on UT-Martin at 4 p.m.
 

2023 season preview

• The Red Foxes were picked first in the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
• Senior captains Sasha van der Merwe & Jordan Newblatt were named to the Preseason All-MAAC team.
• Sasha van der Merwe was named All-MAAC Preseason Player of the Year.
  • Van der Merwe finished the 2022 season leading the MAAC in kills in addition she was named to the All-MAAC first team.
• Marist is set to take on 11 non-conference opponents. Their home opener will be against Siena on Friday, Sept. 15.
• The Red Foxes non-conference play will wrap up on Wednesday, Sept. 13 on the road at Rutgers.

2022 season recap

• Marist ended the 2022 season with an overall 18-11 record. The Red Foxes went 14-4 in MAAC regular season play.
• The Red Foxes finished the season with their most wins since the 2015 season.
• Last season, the Red Foxes were the second seed in the MAAC Championship opening round, where they lost to seven seeded, Rider in three sets.
• Last Season Sasha van der Merwe was named First Team All-MAAC. Jordan Newblatt was named to the All-MAAC Second Team.
