POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist football team begins the 2023 season on Saturday, as the Red Foxes head to Washington, DC to take on Georgetown. The 24
th all-time meeting between the teams is set for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff.

- Casey Tosches, who is in his sixth year on staff, is in his first season as offensive coordinator.
- Last year, a total of 10 Red Foxes caught at least one touchdown pass, but none caught more than two.
- Brock Bagozzi set Marist's single-season program record with 207 completions last year.

- Georgetown has won the last three meetings. In all three of those seasons (2018, 2019, 2022), Marist opened its season with Georgetown.
- The teams have split the last four meetings at Georgetown. Marist earned its first win in DC in 2013. Georgetown prevailed in 2015, Marist won in 2017, and Georgetown was victorious in 2019.
- This is Marist's first trip to Georgetown since 2019. The Red Foxes were supposed to open the 2021 season at Georgetown, but the game was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
- The Marist-Georgetown rivalry dates back to 1994, when both teams were members of the MAAC Football League.
- Marist has faced Georgetown (24th meeting) more than any opponent on this year's schedule. Since Marist became a varsity program in 1978, the only opponent the Red Foxes have faced more often is Iona (28 times).

- Three Hoyas (junior DL Ibri Harrell, sophomore DL Mateen Ibirogba, and sophomore DB Wedner Cadet) were named Preseason All-Patriot League.
- Georgetown was picked tied for sixth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll. The Hoyas went 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the Patriot League last season.
- Rob Sgarlata is in his 10th year as head coach. Between his time as a player, assistant, and head coach, Sgarlata's association with the Georgetown program spans nearly three-and-a-half decades.
