Marist Football Faces Valparaiso in Season’s First PFL Road Game

Kickoff Set for 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist football team (0-2 overall, 0-1 Pioneer Football League) will play its first PFL road game of the season on Saturday at Valparaiso (0-2, 0-0). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Eastern.

  • Geoff Brault will have the call on the Red Fox Network. The pregame show will begin at 12:45 p.m. EDT.
  • The game will be shown on ESPN+ with Todd Ickow (play-by-play) and Tom Byrne (analyst) on the call.

Season Superlatives
  • Tristan Shannon's 151 kickoff return yards at Georgetown are the second-highest single-game total in program history. Shannon also exceeded 100 yards in kickoff returns (113) vs. Davidson. Shannon is second in the FCS in total return yardage, seventh in all-purpose yards per game, and 21st in kickoff return average.
  • Camron Ball's 14 tackles against Davidson were the most by a Red Fox since Mike Arrington and Jayden Johnson each had 14 against Stetson and Morehead State, respectively, in the 2021 season.
  • Matt Stianche's 161 receiving yards against Davidson were the most by a Red Fox since 2018, when the Red Foxes had three 200-yard receiving performances (two by Juston Christian, one by Anthony Olivencia). His 68-yard touchdown reception against Davidson was Marist's longest passing play since Austin Day's 73-yard touchdown pass to Joe Petro on Nov. 9, 2019.
  • Stianche ranks fourth in the FCS in yards per reception (27.0).
  • Marist ranks 11th in the FCS in kickoff return defense (13.83 yards per return) and 31st in kickoff return average (22.54).
 
Marist in the PFL
  • Marist is 54-51 all-time in PFL play, having joined the league in 2009. Marist is 7-12 in September, 30-20 in October, 17-18 in November, and 0-1 in December.
  • Marist is 26-28 at home, and 28-23 on the road in PFL play.
  • Marist has been at least .500 in PFL play four straight seasons, and eight of the last nine.
  • Marist won a share of the PFL championship in 2013.
 
History vs. Valparaiso
  • Marist is 9-2 against Valparaiso all-time, including a 5-1 road mark.
