POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's basketball team will host Niagara in the first sensory-sensitive basketball game to be held in McCann Arena on Jan. 13.
Â
For Saturday's game against Niagara, McCann Arena has been designated an "Autism Supportive Environment" by the Andersen Center Training and Consulting.
In recognition of Sensory-Sensitivity awareness, parts of the typical game presentation have been purposefully modified to reduce loud noises, unexpected sounds, and flashing lights. Fans and families seeking a supportive environment will find ample space and amenities with specially reserved sensory supportive general admission seating in sections 116-120. Those sections will feature comforting elements, as well as helpful information about what to expect during the game, and will be supported by trained ambassadors able to offer extra assistance.
