POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Women's basketball senior Zaria Shazer was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday, Jan. 15.
 

In a 2-0 weekend for the Red Foxes, Shazer averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 51.5 percent from the field. She opened the weekend with 27 points and eight rebounds in Marist's victory over Rider. She followed that performance with 20 points, nine rebounds, and three assists in the Red Foxes' thrilling one-point victory over Niagara on Saturday.

On the season, Shazer is averaging a team-best 15.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. She's upped her game in MAAC play, averaging 17.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. 

Shazer and the Red Foxes will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 13, when Marist continues  MAAC play on the road against Mount St. Mary's. Tip-off from Knott Arena is set for 7 p.m.
