POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist men's soccer team had an abundance of goals in its win against Canisius, Friday night. The Red Foxes scored four goals from four different players, enroute to a 4-1 MAAC win.
Richard Morel recorded his team-high fourth goal of the 2024 season to begin the scoring for the Red Foxes.
Aidan Arber scored his first goal in a Red Foxes uniform in the win against Canisius. Arber's goal was the second of his collegiate career, previously scoring in 2021 at Syracuse.
Caio Cavaletti scored the third goal of the match for the Red Foxes with his first collegiate goal. Cavaletti's third shot on goal during the 2024 season turned into his first goal as a Red Fox.
Jonathan Salguero finished off the scoring for the Red Foxes with his first goal of the 2024 season in the 87
th minute.
The Red Foxes improved to 4-6 on the season, and improved to 1-1 in MAAC play.
- The Red Foxes began the scoring in the 27th minute of the match, off a goal from Richard Morel. Adam Rustami assisted Morel on his fourth goal of the 2024, and put the Red Foxes ahead 1-0 in the first half.
- Before the end of the first half, the Red Foxes added on to their lead with an impressive goal from Aidan Arber. The unassisted goal from Arber marked his first goal in a Red Foxes kit, which gave the Red Foxes a 2-0 lead.
- The Red Foxes led 2-0 at the end of the first half against the Golden Griffins.
- The Red Foxes out-shot Canisius 7-2 in the first half.
- Early in the second half, the Red Foxes continued to add to their lead with a goal in the 51st minute of the match. Caio Cavaletti scored his first goal of his Red Foxes career, which put the Red Foxes ahead 3-0 in the second half.
- Canisius began to strike back in the 69th minute of the match with a goal. The Red Foxes still led in the match 3-1.
- With three minutes to play in the match, Jonathan Salguero finished the scoring with the Red Foxes fourth goal of the match. Salguero's first goal of the season was assisted by Aidan Arber. The goal was scored in the 87th minute of the match.
