POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Red Foxes surrendered three first-half goals and could not recover, as Marist women's soccer came up short at home against MAAC foe Fairfield, 3-0, Wednesday evening inside Tenney Stadium.
With the loss, Marist fell to 3-9-3 on the campaign and 3-5-2 in the MAAC, while Fairfield improved to 13-2-1 on the season and 8-1-1 in conference play with the win.
Â
Fairfield is the best and most athletic team in the MAAC. They have the best-attacking group, their speed of play, their movement off the ball was top tier and they showed that in the first half. Our talk at halftime was to come out and win the half, going into a game we need to win on Sunday and that was the emphasis. I think the girls responded to that and won the second half. We shut their offense down and got some opportunities ourselves and competed, that's all I can ask for.
