Volleyball Victorious Against Manhattan

The Red Foxes Secure First Win of the 2024 Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist volleyball team beat the Jaspers 3-1 at home on Sunday afternoon.

Sara Dasic led the Red Foxes offensively with 19 kills.

Jamison White, Katherine Thompson, Kaitlyn Ownes, and Sara Dasic each recorded three service aces.

With this win, Marist moves to 1-14 on the season and 1-4 in MAAC play.

Set One 25-23 Marist
The Red Foxes jumped to an early lead with a score of 6-1. The Jaspers battled back to get within two points to make the score 13-11. Marist would continue control of the set until Manhattan evened the score at 23-23.

The Red Foxes would go on to take the initial set 25-23.  
 
Set Two 25-23 Manhattan
The Red Foxes and Jaspers would trade blows early in the frame to even the score at 7-7. This continued throughout the set as it remained tied at 15-15. Marist fought to the end of the set to even the score at 22-22. Manhattan finally took control from that point.

The Jaspers would go on to take the second set 25-23.
 
Set Three 25-18 Marist
Marist quickly earned a five-point lead to make the score 8-3 at the beginning of the set. The Red Foxes doubled that lead and the score was 19-9. The Jaspers cut the deficit to five points once again to trail 23-18.

The Red Foxes would retain control for the rest of the set, winning 25-18.
 
Set Four 25-23 Marist
Marist and Manhattan were tied for a brief moment in the opening frame at 1-1. Sally Tietjen recorded a service ace to give the Red Foxes a 2-1 lead. The remainder of the set was controlled by Marist.

The Red Foxes would go on to win the set 25-23 and secure the match victory.
