BETHLEHEM, PA – Marist women's basketball came up short on the road at Lehigh, 56-39, inside Stabler Arena on Saturday afternoon to kick off the Lehigh Christmas Classic.
With the loss, Marist fell to 3-4 on the early campaign, while Lehigh improved to 5-2 to open the season.

The Red Foxes opened the game with a three-pointer from
Danielle Williamsen before the Mountain Hawks responded with a 10-0 run to force a Marist timeout with 6:02 left in the frame. Following the break in action, Marist kept pace with Lehigh, as the Mountain Hawks barely outpaced the Red Foxes 10-8 the rest of the quarter to take a 20-11 lead into the second.

The Red Foxes held the Mountain Hawks to just two points over the first five minutes of play in the frame, cutting the deficit to 22-17. However, Lehigh closed the half with an 8-2 run to take a 30-19 advantage into the half.

The Mountain Hawks opened the second half with an 8-0 run before the Red Foxes called a timeout to halt the momentum with 8:04 left in the frame down 38-19. Marist narrowly outscored Lehigh 11-8 the rest of the quarter following the timeout, trimming the deficit to 46-30 entering the fourth.

The deficit was too large for the Red Foxes, as they eventually fell, 56-39.

- Morgan Lee led the Red Foxes with nine points and added five rebounds and two blocks
- Morgan Tompkins scored a season-high six points and added two rebounds and a block
- Danielle Williamsen, Lexie Tarul, and Malea Egan added five points apiece
- The Mountain Hawks held the Red Foxes to 33.3% shooting from the field and 21.4% from deep
- Marist will be back in action on Sunday, Dec.1, when the Red Foxes close play in the Lehigh Christmas City Classic against North Dakota.
- Tip-off will take place at noon
