Women's Basketball Hosts Manhattan in MAAC Matchup Saturday at 7 PM

Red Foxes Welcome Jaspers to McCann

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. – Marist women's basketball looks to open MAAC play at 2-0 for the first time since the 2020-21 season, as the Red Foxes play host to Manhattan Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Behind a career-high 22 points from freshman Danielle Williamsen, Marist women's basketball started MAAC play at 1-0 with an overtime road victory over Mount St. Mary's, 61-50, to open conference play inside Knott Arena on Dec. 19.
  • Morgan Lee tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks, and four assists.
  • Lexie Tarul recorded 16 points.
  • Jackie Piddock tallied eight rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.
DYNAMIC DANI
  • Freshman Danielle Williamsen will be a mainstay in the Red Fox back court this season.
  • Williamsen is averaging 8.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
  • She is shooting a near-perfect 100.00% from the charity stripe, as she is 18-for-20 (90.0%) from the line so far this season.

  • She totaled seven points, grabbed a career-high eight rebounds, and knocked down the game-winning free-throws to propel Marist past Yale on Nov. 26.
  • Williamsen had a breakout performance in her second game as a Red Fox, scoring all 11 of her points in the second half to lead Marist past Cornell on Nov. 10.
  • Williamsen joins the Red Foxes as a three-year starter at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School.
  • For her high school career, Williamsen averaged 20.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.

MARVELOUS MORGAN
  • Junior Morgan Lee returns for her junior campaign in 2024-25.
  • Lee is averaging 12.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.1 blocks per game, and 1.0 steals per game. 
  • She is averaging career-bests in points, rebounds, assists and blocks per game this season.
  • Lee is tied for second on the team with 10 three-point field goals made.
  • She has reached double figures in scoring in seven of Marist's 11 games.
  • Lee has made at least two three-point field goals in three games this season.
  • She is shooting 45.9% from the floor.
  • Lee's 23 blocks on the season is tops in the MAAC and ranks 26th in the nation.
  • Her 2.1 blocks per game is third in the MAAC and 35th in the nation.
  • She tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks, and four assists in the victory over Mount St. Mary's on Dec. 19.
  • Lee is the first Red Fox to tally six blocks in a game since Maeve Donnelly did so against Fairfield on Jan. 14, 2023.
  • Lee scored a career-high 21 points and added seven rebounds in the win over Bryant on Dec. 7.
  • She recorded 13 points, five rebounds, and three blocks in the victory over Yale on Nov. 26.

SCOUTING THE JASPERS
  • Manhattan is led by Heather Vulin, who has totaled 120 wins in nine seasons as the head coach of the program.
  • The Jaspers are 6-4 and 0-1 in the MAAC on the season entering Saturday's contest against the Red Foxes.
  • Manhattan is riding a two-game losing streak entering Saturday's contest.
  • The Jaspers were downed by Saint Peter's, 62-49, at home in its last time out on Thursday, Dec. 19.
  • Manhattan is averaging 63.4 points per game, while shooting 42.5% from the field and 31.3% from deep.
  • The Jaspers have three players averaging at least 10.0 points per game so far this season in Nitzan Amar (11.6), Petra Juric (11.1), and Hana Mühl (10.3).
HISTORY VS MANHATTAN
  • Saturday's contest against Manhattan will be Marist's 67th ever matchup with the Jaspers.
  • Marist is 41-25 all-time against Manhattan, and have won three of the last four contests vs. the Jaspers.
