POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team won its fifth straight game on Sunday, as the Red Foxes used a potent second half to record a 69-51 victory over Binghamton at McCann Arena.
- Marist jumped out to an early 6-2 lead thanks to four points from Elijah Lewis.
- Ben Callahan-Gold's three-pointer gave Marist its first lead, 11-8 at the 10:06 mark.
- Binghamton's lead reached five on three occasions, and the Bearcats took a 27-23 halftime lead.
- Lewis and Josh Pascarelli scored eight points apiece in the first half. Pascarelli's eight came in a span of 2:45.
- Marist took the lead for good with an 8-0 run to start the second half, which included threes from Lewis and Pascarelli sandwiched around a jumper by Jadin Collins-Roberts in transition.
- Lewis scored five straight points, and his two free throws put Marist ahead in double digits for the first time with 9:53 remaining.
- An 8-0 run, which included four points from Jason Schofield, put Marist up 57-40 with 5:43 left.
- The final margin of 18 was the largest of the game. The contest's final points were scored on a layup by Jagger Bascombe with 1:10 left for Bascombe's first collegiate points.
- Lewis finished with a game-high 21 points. He shot 7-for-8 from the field, 3-for-3 from three-point range, and 4-for-4 from the line. He added six rebounds and six assists.
- Pascarelli finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.
- Schofield gave Marist three double-digit scorers with 10. He added five rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
- Jaden Daughtry had a team-high eight rebounds.
- Marist outscored Binghamton 46-24 in the second half. The Red Foxes shot 19-for-30 (.633) from the field and 6-for-9 (.667) from three in the final 20 minutes.
- For Binghamton, Callahan-Gold scored a team-high 10, and Gavin Walsh had a game-high 11 rebounds.
- Marist's 9-2 start is its best after 11 games since the 1998-99 season.
- Marist completed its first perfect December (5-0) in its Division I history.
