TEMPE, Arizona- The Marist Water Polo team started the first day of the ASU Invite, Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes defeated Ottawa University Arizona and fell to seventh ranked Arizona State University.

 

Match One Vs OUAZ

• The Red Foxes got out early in the first quarter, entering the second quarter with a 6-1 lead.
• The Red Foxes continued to score in the second quarter, scoring four goals and allowing zero in the net.
  • The Red Foxes entered halftime with a 10-1 lead against the Spirit.
• In the third quarter, the Red Foxes added four more goals to the lead, and entered the final frame with a 14-3 lead against the Spirit.
• The Red Foxes won the first match of the ASU Invite in dominant fashion 20-4.
• Liana Hunt and Lela McCarroll scored a hat trick for the Red Foxes.
• Four Red Foxes scored a pair of goals in the win:

  • Callaghan Browne
  • Victoria Padilla
  • Alyssa Mullane
• The Red Foxes tallied six steals as a team in the win against the Spirit.
• The Red Foxes tallied a 54 percent goal percentage.

  

Match Two Vs 7 ASU

• The Red Foxes trailed in the first quarter 3-2 against the Sun Devils.
• Going into halftime, the Red Foxes scored two goals in the frame, but trailed 8-4 at the half.
• In the third quarter, the Red Foxes were outscored 6-2 and trailed 14-6 going into the final frame.
• The Red Foxes fell 23-7.
• The Red Foxes had six different goal scorers in the match.
