Allen Gavilanes Signs with Miami FC

Former Marist Standout to Play in USL’s Top Division

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Allen Gavilanes, who played three seasons for the Marist men's soccer team, has signed a contract with Miami FC of the USL Championship. Gavilanes has spent the last three seasons playing for Greenville Triumph SC, a team in USL League One.  
 
"Great to see Allen sign a second contract and progress to the top USL division," Marist head coach Matt Viggiano said. "It's a testament to his hard work and talent. Couldn't be more proud of him."
 
While a member of the Greenville Triumph, Gavilanes appeared in 92 games scoring eight goals and 18 assists. All three years with the team, they made the playoffs. He also played in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2022 and 2023. During his 2023 campaign, Gavilanes finished third in the league for assists (six) and led the league in successful crosses (41).  
 
Gavilanes played three seasons at Marist from 2017-19, with the 2020 season being cut altogether due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During his time at Marist, Gavilanes was honored as First Team All-MAAC all three seasons he played. As a freshman, he was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and MAAC Rookie of the Year. During his career, he also was awarded to the United Soccer Coaches Division I All-East Region Second Team, and was a two-time selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team.  
 
During Gavilanes' sophomore campaign, he scored three game-winning goals against Siena, Monmouth, and then against Saint Peter's in the MAAC Quarterfinals. He ranked second in the MAAC in assists per game, tied for third in game-winning goals, and fifth in points.  
 
While at Marist, he tallied 20 goals, 22 assists, and 54 appearances in 53 starts.
 
Gavilanes also played for USL League Two team New York Red Bulls U23 during his sophomore and junior seasons. 
 
Before Marist, Gavilanes played for St. Benedict's Prep where he achieved a plethora of accolades—including First Team All-State, First Team All-County, and First Team All-Division. Gavilanes also played for the East Brunswick Soccer Club where he won a state championship and achieved the #1 ranking in the country among club teams.
