Women's Basketball Aims to Rebound Against Niagara on the Road

Red Foxes Look to Sweep Season-Series With Purple Eagles

NIAGARA FALLS, New York – The Marist women's basketball team aims to snap its seven-game skid, as the Red Foxes take on Niagara on the road. Tip-off from the Gallagher Center is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Senior Zaria Shazer scored a team-high 17 points and added seven rebounds to lead Marist women's basketball, however, it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes' fell short against Canisius on the road, 68-52, Thursday evening inside the Koessler Athletic Center.
  • Kiara Fisher added 12 points, six assists and four rebounds.
  • Catie Cunningham added seven points, seven rebounds and three steals.

  • Marist has held its opponents below 75 points in 20 of 23 games this season.
  • Marist has held its opponents to 70 points or less in 15 games this season.
  • The Red Foxes are forcing opponents to shoot 38.2 percent from the floor, which ranks fourth in the MAAC and 90th in the nation.

  • In her junior campaign, Catie Cunningham is averaging career-high totals of  6.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
  • Cunningham has reached double-figure scoring five times this season.
  • She has recorded four double-doubles in her career, all coming this season.
  • Her most recent double-double came against Siena on Feb. 3, where she totaled 12 points and 14 rebounds.
  • Cunningham totaled 12 points and a career-high 17 rebounds against Quinnipiac on Feb. 1.
  • She tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds, and knocked down the game-winning free throw in Marist's win over Niagara on Jan. 13.
  • Cunningham scored a career-high 18 points and knocked down a career-high three three-pointers against Cornell on Dec. 21.
  • She tallied 17 points and added 12 rebounds for a double-double in Marist's victory over Army in the season-opener on Nov. 9.
 
SCOUTING THE PURPLE EAGLES
  • Niagara is led by Jada Pierce, who boasts 101 wins in her ninth season with the Purple Eagles.
  • Niagara enters the matchup at 13-11 on the season and 10-4 in the MAAC.
  • The Purple Eagles are riding a seven-game win streak.
  • Niagara downed Siena at home, 84-70, in its last time out on Feb. 15.
  • Aaliyah Parker leads the Purple Eagles at 11.2 points and 3.2 steals per game.
