Women's Hoops Hosts The Mount on Thursday on ESPN+

Red Foxes Aim to Snap Eight-Game Skid Against Mount St. Mary's

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team aims to snap its eight-game skid, as the Red Foxes play host to Mount St. Mary's on Thursday. Tip-off from McCann Arena is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Zaria Shazer and Morgan Lee scored 14 points apiece to lead Marist women's basketball, however, it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes' closed its road trip with a loss against Niagara, 90-64, Saturday afternoon inside the Gallagher Center.
  • Shazer led the Red Foxes with 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Lee scored a career-high 14 points and added five rebounds.
  • Julia Corsentino contributed 12 points and recorded a career-high four steals.
  • Lexie Tarul and Jackie Piddock scored eight points apiece in the loss.
 
MARVELOUS MORGAN
  • Sophomore forward Morgan Lee has come along this season, averaging 5.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.
  • Lee's 27 blocks and 1.1 blocks per game is tops on the team and ranks fourth in the MAAC in both categories.
  • 19 of her 27 blocks have come during MAAC play.
  • Her 1.4 blocks per game in MAAC play slots her third in the conference.
  • Lee has totaled three or more blocks in six contests this season.
  • Lee scored a career-high 14 points against Niagara on Feb. 17, becoming the first player in program history to shoot 100 percent from the field (min. 5 attempts) since Alana Gilmer went 9-for-9 against Niagara on Jan. 11, 2020.
 
COUNT ON JACK
  • Jackie Piddock is averaging 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game as a sophomore this season. 
  • Piddock has posted double-figure point totals six times this season, topping last year's total of two.
  • Piddock is averaging 8.6 points per game in the 11 games she has started in.
  • Piddock got off to a hot start to start the season, averaging 11.6 points per game, while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc over the first five games of the season. 
  • During that span, Piddock reached double figure scoring in four of five games. 
  • She tallied career-highs of 17 points and six rebounds in Marist's victory over Army to open the season on Nov. 9.
  • Piddock scored over 2400 career points in high school, playing varsity for six years, to break Breanna Stewart's New York State Section 3 scoring record.
 
SCOUTING THE MOUNT
  • Mount St. Mary's is led by Antoine, who boasts 38 wins in his third season with the Mountaineers.
  • Mount St. Mary's enters the matchup at 10-14 on the season and 7-8 in the MAAC.
  • The Mountaineers have won three of their last four games.
  • Fairfield downed Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, 61-59, in its last time out this past Sunday.
  • Jessica Tomasetti leads the Mount in scoring at 12.6 points per game, while teammate Joe Raflo is averaging 12.3 points per game, respectively. 
 
UP NEXT
  • The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 24, when Marist continues MAAC play on the road against Rider.
