LOUDONVILLE, New York – Three different student-athletes reached double-figure point totals for the Red Foxes, but it wasn't enough as Marist women's basketball came up short at Siena, 73-62, Thursday evening inside the UHY Center.
Zaria Shazer led the way for Marist with 15 points, while
Morgan Lee chipped in 12 points and
Jackie Piddock contributed 10 points of her own.
With the loss, Marist fell to 5-22 on the campaign and 3-14 in the MAAC, while Siena improved to 15-11 overall and 12-6 in conference play on the 2023-24 season.

The Saints held the Red Foxes to just two points over the first 5:26 of action to take a 12-2 lead into the first media timeout with 4:24 left in the first quarter. Siena held Marist to 33.3 percent shooting from the floor in the quarter, as the Saints carried a 25-13 advantage into the second.

The Red Foxes held the Saints scoreless over the first 6:30 of action to open the frame, cutting the deficit down to single digits during that span.
After Siena built its lead to 29-17, Marist closed the half with a 6-0 run behind back-to-back three-pointers from
Julia Corsentino and
Morgan Lee to cut the deficit to 29-23 at halftime.

The Red Foxes went on a swift 5-0 run to open the second half, bolstered by a three-point play from
Zaria Shazer to cut the Siena lead to 29-28.

The Marist run reached 14-5 to start the half, capped by back-to-back buckets from
Jackie Piddock to give the Red Foxes a 37-34 advantage, their first lead of the night. However, after Marist went up 39-37, Siena closed the third with a 13-5 run to take a 50-44 lead into the fourth.

The two sides exchanged baskets to open the fourth with Siena outpacing Marist 13-12 to take a 63-56 lead into the media timeout with 4:52 left in regulation. The Saints responded with a swift 5-0 run out of the timeout to extend their lead to 12 with 4:08 remaining.
The deficit proved to be too great for the Red Foxes, as they eventually came up short, 73-62.
