Women's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener to UNH
POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's lacrosse team fell to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats by a score of 19-8 in its home opener at Tenney Stadium on Friday afternoon.

  • The Red Foxes responded right away with back-to-back goals. Greta Govoni found the back of the net for the first goal of her collegiate career and 30 seconds later Kelly Trotta scored on an assist from Olivia Arntsen to make it 5-4.
  • The Wildcats quickly countered with their sixth goal of the game.
  • At the 13:05 mark, Trotta found the back of the net again to get Marist within one at 6-5.
  • UNH extended its lead to 7-5 with 10 minutes to go in the first half.
  • With less than two minutes remaining in the half, the Wildcats added two unanswered goals to take a 9-5 lead.
  • The Wildcats got the scoring started in the second half.
  • Trotta completed her first hat trick of the year to make it 10-6 at the 10:31 mark.
  • UNH responded with another goal, increasing the advantage back to five.
  • Arntsen scored her first goal of the season with 7:14 remaining in the third quarter making it 11-7.
  • The Wildcats found the back of the net with one second left in the third.
  • UNH opened the fourth quarter with seven unanswered goals to give themselves a 19 -7 lead with 3:59 remaining in the game.
  • Alana Tavares scored her first goal of the season for Marist to make it 19-8.
