Women's Hoops Hosts Saint Peter's Saturday at 4 p.m.

Red Foxes Aim to Snap 11-Game Skid

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team aims to snap its 10-game skid, as the Red Foxes travel to take on MAAC foe Siena on Thursday. Tip-off from the UHY Center is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Three different student-athletes reached double-figure point totals for the Red Foxes, but it wasn't enough as Marist women's basketball came up short at Siena, 73-62, Thursday evening inside the UHY Center.
  • Zaria Shazer led the Red Foxes with 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
  • Morgan Lee added 12 points, six rebounds, and two blocks.
  • Jackie Piddock contributed 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists
 
TEDDY BEAR CLINIC
  • Marist Athletics in collaboration with MidHudson Regional Hospital will host a Teddy Bear Clinic on Saturday, March 2, inside of McCann Arena at 3:30 p.m., prior to the Marist women's basketball contest against Saint Peter's at 4 p.m.
  • At the Teddy Bear Clinic, children can come up and collect a free Teddy Bear from the WMC Health Table and 'doctor' their teddy.
  • The children can work on the Teddy Bear with personnel from MHRH like putting a sling on the Teddy Bear, taking its temperature, etc. 
  • This helps the children be more comfortable with medical lingo and remove the shroud of mystery around hospitals and medical staff.   
 
LIVING AT THE LINE
  • Marist has made 284 free throws on the season, the second-most in the conference. 
  • The Red Foxes are taking 14.9 free throws per game.
  • Marist is making 10.5 free throws per game, which ranks fourth in the conference.
  • Zaria Shazer is second in the MAAC in free throw attempts (130) and second made free throws (91).
 
SCOUTING PEACOCKS
  • Saint Peter's is led by Jennifer Leedham, who boasts six wins in her second season with the Peacocks.
  • Saint Peter's enters the matchup at 6-20 on the season and 3-14 in the MAAC.
  • The Peacocks have lost seven of their last eight contests and is riding a three-game losing streak into the game.
  • Siena downed Saint Peter's in Jersey City, 75-57, in its last time out this past Saturday.
  • Jada Leonard leads the Peacocks with 12.9 points, 2.2 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.
 
HISTORY VS SAINT PETER'S
  • Saturday's contest against Saint Peter's will mark Marist's 63rd contest against the Peacocks.
  • The Red Foxes are 41-21 all-time against the Peacocks and average 64.2 points per game in the series.
  • Marist once held a 20-game winning streak against Saint Peter's that spanned from Jan. 2007 - Jan. 2015.
  • Marist is 20-7 all-time at home against Saint Peter's.
  • Marist has won two of the last three contests against Saint Peter's. 
  • The last time the two sides faced off, Saint Peter's came away with a 51-42 victory over Marist in Poughkeepsie on Dec. 16, 2023.
