ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Morgan Lee scored 20 points to lead 11th-seeded Marist women's basketball, but it wasn't enough as No. 6 Mount St. Mary's downed the Red Foxes, 60-47, in the opening round of the MAAC Championships Tuesday afternoon inside Boardwalk Hall.
Lee totaled 20 points and eight rebounds, while
Catie Cunningham contributed 12 points, five rebounds, and three blocks in the loss.

The Red Foxes got off to a hot start, using the first six minutes of action to jump out to an 11-7 lead behind eight points from
Morgan Lee and a
Lexie Tarul three-pointer to lead into the media timeout.
The two sides hit a scoring drought out of the break, with Marist carrying a 12-9 lead into the second quarter.

The Mountaineers used the opening 4:50 to go on a 16-2 run before the Red Foxes called a timeout trailing 25-14 with 5:01 left in the first half. Mount St. Mary's outpaced Marist 8-6 the rest of the half to carry a 33-20 lead into halftime.

The Mountaineers opened the half with a 9-2 run to force a Marist timeout with the Red Foxes trailing 42-22 with 5:57 left in the third quarter. Out of the break, Marist responded with an 11-2 run, behind two three-pointer's from
Catie Cunningham and a three-point play from Lee to trim the deficit to 44-33 with 2:55 left in the third.
However, the Mount closed the third with a swift 6-0 run to take a commanding 50-33 lead into the fourth.

The deficit proved to be too large for the Red Foxes to overcome, as they eventually came up short, 60-47.
