POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – More than 1,800 Red Foxes came together to support Marist's 23 Division I teams as well as Club Sports and other athletics-related initiatives during the college's first-ever Day of Giving — raising $372,362!
All gifts directly impact the success and well-being of our 650 student-athletes, ensuring that they have the resources they need to thrive in all aspects of the Marist experience.
"The energy and excitement that we experienced last week, during Marist's first Day of Giving was motivating and invigorating," said Marist Director of Athletics Tim Murray. "On behalf of all our student-athletes, coaches, and administrative staff, I share a very heartfelt thank you to our alumni athletes, family, friends, and other contributors for their outpouring of support."
"Please know that every dollar given to support your chosen Athletics interest will go directly to that program to enhance the experience of each student-athlete!"
The challenge featured 24 team-specific matches and challenges from athletic alumni, parents, friends, and coaches totaling $94,265. These matches and challenges were critical in maximizing the impact of our donors.
Several teams cleared the $30,000 raised mark, including: Men's rowing ($103,143), Cross Country Track & Field ($47,188), Men's Lacrosse ($40,423), and women's rowing ($34,527). Water Polo won the challenge for most donations divided by roster size (319 donors) earning them an additional cash prize.
"The Division I landscape is changing daily. As always, the student-athlete experience is of the utmost importance to all of us," Murray added. "Your continued support of Athletics proves that will never change here at Marist! Once a Red Fox, Always a Red Fox!"
