Women’s Lacrosse Comes Up Short at Rider

Trotta Scores Six, Including 100th of Her Career

LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – The Marist women's lacrosse team dropped a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest at Rider by a score of 19-15 on Saturday.
 
Summary
First Quarter
  • Rider scored the contest's first two goals, but Marist got on the board with a Kelly Trotta tally at the 9:12 mark, which was set up by Olivia Arntsen.
  • The Broncs then scored three straight goals.
  • Kerri Gutenberger and Trotta then scored back-to-back in a 54-second span.
  • After Rider scored two straight, Chloe Birckhead scored in the final seconds of the quarter to bring Marist to within 7-4 after one.
 
Second Quarter
  • Each team scored twice in the first 6:01, with the Red Foxes receiving tallies from Aubrey Monroe (man down) and Gutenberger.
  • No more goals were scored for the next eight minutes, but Gutenberger set up Greta Govoni for a score with 47 seconds left. Marist's deficit was 9-7 at halftime.
 
Third Quarter
  • Rider scored the first three goals of the third, but Marist answered with three straight in 1:44 – two by Trotta, one by Alana Tavares.
  • Rider countered with two more, but Trotta beat the buzzer to bring Marist within 14-11 after 45 minutes.
 
Fourth Quarter
  • Caitlin McNaboe brought the Red Foxes to within two at the 13:19 mark.
  • However, Rider scored the next five to go up 19-12.
  • Marist scored the contest's final three goals in the last three minutes. Arntsen, Gutenberger, and Trotta scored in this time.

  • Trotta tied her career high with six goals for the second straight game. Her second of this contest was the 100th of her career.
  • Gutenberger had three goals and two assists.
  • Arntsen and Govoni had a goal and two assists apiece.
