Softball’s Winning Streak Halted by North Florida

Red Foxes’ Contest at Jacksonville Called Off Due to Inclement Weather

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Marist softball team had its 11-game winning streak snapped on Saturday. The Red Foxes fell to North Florida by a score of 6-2 in the Jacksonville Spring Break Tournament.
 
The Red Foxes' second game of the day against tournament host Jacksonville was called off due to impending inclement weather, as heavy rain and thunderstorms pelted the city in the late afternoon and evening.

  • North Florida scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first.
  • Marist tied the score in the top of the second. Haley Ahr reached on an error, advanced to second on an Alyssa Grupp single, stole third, and scored on a two-out hit by Maddie Gore.
  • North Florida took the lead with a run in the fifth, and added four in the sixth.
  • Marist got one back in the top of the seventh. Sophia Recrosio started a one-out rally with a single, and scored on a Miah McDonald single.
  • Both teams had eight hits. McDonald led the Red Foxes with two.
