BOSTON, Massachusetts – The Marist men's rowing team opened its spring season by taking on MIT on the Charles River.
After a rough week of preparation due to inclement weather, water was flat and temperatures were in the low 40s with the rain holding off.
MIT prevailed in a time of 6:13.5. Marist finished in 6:27.9.
Marist won with a time of 6:25.7. MIT finished in 6:30.2.
"The first 500 meters were the fastest by far," Marist head coach Campbell Woods said. "We got ahead and stayed ahead."
Junior Liam Klemm competed in both the Varsity Eight (four seat) and Second Varsity Eight (two seat).
MIT won in 7:29.1. Marist's A entry finished in 7:40.7, and the B entry had a time of 7:50.3.
"Special thanks to MIT for hosting us in Boston. They have a gorgeous boathouse facility there. … It's one of the cooler venues for the athletes to race in the Northeast."
- The Marist rowing programs will compete in the Knecht Cup on Saturday and Sunday.
- The regatta takes place in Camden, New Jersey.
- The Varsity Eight is expected to have about a dozen entries.
