OVERPECK PARK, New Jersey -Â Marist women's rowing traveled to Ridgefield, NJ's Overpeck Park on Sunday to compete at the St. Joe's Invite against crews from SJU, Columbia, Navy, UCONN, GWU, Bucknell, UMass, and URI. Marist boated a 1V8, 2V8, Varsity 4, and 3V8. The format was a round robin style regatta which consisted of 3 boats matched up in the morning for each event and 3 different boats matched up in the afternoon in each event. The conditions were a blustery 14mph cross-headwind.
The Varsity 8 consisted of coxswain
Ariana Novero,Â
Summer Starrett,
Ashley Surette,
Natalia Miklos,
Gabrielle Insero,
Kaleigh Tompkins,

In the morning race against Columbia and the Naval Academy, the conditions affected this crew more than we would have liked and they came off the water knowing that they could have raced better, but maintained a good attitude, shook it off, and started to prepare for their second racing opportunity in the afternoon.
Final Results: COLUMBIA 7:36.7, NAVY 7:45.8, Marist 8:15.7
In the afternoon, this same crew raced against UConn and GWU. They executed each part of their race plan much more confidently and competitively for the full 2000 meters. Their determination enabled them to improve upon their time from the morning significantly and place them second behind GWU and ahead of UConn. The crew came off the water knowing they had worked hard and had done a better job handling the conditions and competition than in their first race.
Final Results: GW 7:50.4, Marist 7:57.3, UCONN 8:16.6

This crew agreed that due to the combination of tough competition and rough rowing conditions that they had a subpar performance in this first race. They came off the water with things to work on in the afternoon and ready to get to work against UConn and GWU.
Final Results: COLUMBIA 8:12.1, NAVY 8:39.7, Marist 9:02.9
In the afternoon race against UConn and GWU, the crew got off to a good start and fought hard in a tight pack of crews. GWU was able to start walking away but not without a fight. Marist was able to maintain separation from the trailing UConn crew and felt confident in their improvements from the morning.
Final Results: GW 8:18.5, Marist 8:25.8, UCONN 8:38.9
Â
The Varsity 4 consisted of coxswain
