POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist College held its 78th Commencement Exercises on May 17-18.

Graduate and adult commencement exercises took place on Friday night at McCann Arena, and traditional undergraduate ceremonies were held Saturday on the campus green.Â

On Thursday afternoon, a special ceremony was held for the two members of the Marist women's rowing program, Avalon Johnson and Natalia Miklos, who were unable to attend graduation due to their participation in this weekend's MAAC Championships.Â
The valedictorian of the Class of 2024 is Emma Spiro, who had formerly competed on the women's rowing team.

The Class of 2024 was instrumental in winning five conference championships: women's rowing (2021), men's soccer (2021), men's lacrosse (2023), softball (2023), and men's swimming & diving (2024). The class also extended Marist's streak of leading the MAAC in Academic Honor Roll selections to 22. The total topping 300 each of the last four years, with a school record of 356 set last year.

On Friday, six student-athletes were recognized at the Academic Achievement Award Ceremony, which encompassed Baccalaureate Awards in addition to the Honors Medal Program.

A total of 145 student-athletes participated in this weekend's ceremonies.
Coaches and athletics department staff donned regalia and participated in Saturday's ceremony.
