PONCE, Puerto Rico - Marist volleyball head coach,
Sean Byron earned a gold medal alongside the U.S. Boys U19 National volleyball team during the NORECA Continental Cup in May. Serving as Team Lead, Byron had several responsibilities as part of the coaching staff both on and off the court, playing a key role in the teams successful foray in the international competition.
"It was a great experience to train side-by-side with the men's and women's senior teams preparing for Paris," said
Sean Byron. "The attention to detail by all the people involved with USA Volleyball was amazing."
The US went undefeated in pool play with with clean sweeps against Canada, Surinam and Cuba.
In the Semi Finals, the US swept Canada whereas Cuba defeated Puerto Rico 3-2, setting up a Gold Medal Match between the US and Cuba.
The US team went on to defeat Cuba in the Gold Medal match 3-1, securing championship victory.
This victory, qualified the US for the 2025 FIVB U19 World Championships.
