Red Foxes Welcome Bryant to Tenney for Home Opener Sunday

Women's Soccer Plays Host to Bulldogs Sunday at 1 PM

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist women's soccer continues its 2024 non-conference slate on Sunday, as the Red Foxes play host to Bryant inside Tenney Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.

Brandon Ross will be on the play-by-play for the contest, while Thomas Armstrong will serve as the analyst. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist played to a scoreless tie with NJIT on the road in its last time out this past Thursday
  • The Red Foxes were outshot 17-6 but recorded three shots on goal compared to the Highlanders' two
  • Junior captain goalkeeper Maddy Catalanotti tallied two saves en route to her first shutout of the season.
MAGNIFICENT MADDY
  • Junior captain goalkeeper Maddy Catalanotti tallied two saves en route to her first shutout of the season against NJIT on Thursday, August 22
  • The shutout was the fifth of her career
  • Through two games, Catalanotti has made seven saves
WHO ELSE BUT MAILLE
  • Graduate student Maille McDermott scored the first goal of her collegiate career in Marist's opener at Seton Hall
  • A former Pirate, McDermott spent four years as a member of the Seton Hall women's soccer program
  • McDermott's goal came on a header in the box from a corner kick off the foot of Gabby Tirado. McDermott tracked the ball in the box and headed it home to give Marist a 1-0 lead in the contest.


 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
  • Bryant enters the contest at 1-1 after falling against Siena, 1-0, in its opener on Aug. 18
  • The Bulldogs bounced back and downed Stonehill, 5-0, at home in its last time out this past Thursday
  • Bryant had five different players score a goal in the victory
  • Bryant is coming off a season in which it finished 7-5-4 overall and 2-3-3 in America East play. The Bulldogs shined defensively in 2023 finishing in the top 70 nationally in goals against average
  • Catherine Bean returns for her senior season after being named to the America East Second Team at the end of last season
  • Bean started all 16 games last season and led the team in points (8), shots (33), and assists (4)
  • Entering the 2024 season, Bean has appeared in 47 career games boasting 30 points (9g, 12a)
HISTORY VS BRYANT
  • Sunday's contest will mark the second contest between the two programs
  • Bryant holds a record of 1-0-0 against Marist
  • The last time the two squads faced off, Bryant came away with a 2-0 victory over Marist on Sept. 20, 2023 in Smithfield
NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes will be back in action on Thursday, Aug. 29, when Marist plays host to St. Thomas
  • The match is set to start at 7 PM on ESPN+ from Tenney Stadium
