Red Foxes Set For Sunday Home Matinee With Navy at 1PM

Women's Soccer Aims for First Victory on on Sunday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist women's soccer continues its 2024 non-conference slate on Sunday, as the Red Foxes play host to Navy inside Tenney Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.

Brandon Ross will be on the play-by-play for the contest, while Thomas Armstrong will serve as the analyst.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • After conceding an early goal to St. Thomas, Marist women's soccer was unable to recover and came up short at home,1-0, Thursday evening inside Tenney Stadium.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Samantha Graf made her collegiate debut and tallied six saves in the contest.
  • St. Thomas outshot Marist 15-8
  • Marist generated five corners, compared to nine for St. Thomas
  • Julia Loncar, Olivia Lindsay, and Anna Maggi led Marist with one shot on goal apiece
MAGNIFICENT MADDY
  • Junior captain goalkeeper Maddy Catalanotti tallied two saves en route to her first shutout of the season against NJIT on Thursday, August 22
  • The shutout was the fifth of her career
  • Through three games, Catalanotti has made 12 saves and has allowed just three goals this season
WHO ELSE BUT MAILLE
  • Graduate student Maille McDermott scored the first goal of her collegiate career in Marist's opener at Seton Hall
  • A former Pirate, McDermott spent four years as a member of the Seton Hall women's soccer program
  • McDermott's goal came on a header in the box from a corner kick off the foot of Gabby Tirado. McDermott tracked the ball in the box and headed it home to give Marist a 1-0 lead in the contest.
 
SCOUTING NAVY
  • Navy enters the contest at 3-3 on the season
  • Navy downed Wilson College 8-0 this past Tuesday, before falling at home against Maryland, 1-0, on Thursday
  • Rylee Rives leads Navy with three goals on the season, while Marlee Heaven, Isabella Romano, Amanda Graziano, Lucy Gaines, and Lizzie Emerson follows with two goals apiece
  • Natasha Stramrood is 3-3 in goal and boasts 19 saves on the season
HISTORY VS NAVY
  • Sunday's contest will mark the third contest between the two programs
  • Navy is 2-0 all-time against Marist
  • The last time the two sides faced off, Navy came away with a 2-1 win over the Red Foxes on Sept. 12, 2014
NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, Sep. 7, when Marist plays host to Saint Peter's
