POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Despite out-shooting Navy, Marist women's soccer came up short against the Midshipmen, 2-1, after conceding two first-half goals Sunday afternoon at Tenney Stadium.

Maille McDermott scored her second goal of the season in the match.
With the loss, Marist fell to 0-4-1 on the season, while Navy improved to 4-3, and earned their first road victory of the early campaign.
- "Thirteen shots in the first half was a great start to capitalizing on goals. We played well on the attacking side in the match, and look forward to continuing that momentum. We have enough time to regroup and glue together before our match against Saint Peter's."
- Despite out-shooting the Midshipmen 13-7 in the first half, the Red Foxes went into halftime trailing 2-0.
- Navy only generated two shots on goal in the first half, but converted on both opportunities.
- Navy struck first in the 15th minute on a goal from sophomore forward Chiara Cosenza with an assist by junior forward Mimi Abusham.
- The Midshipmen struck again in the 43rd minute with a goal off the foot of senior Amanda Graziano.
- Maille McDermott put the Red Foxes on the board with an unassisted goal in the 51st minute.
- The Red Foxes pitched a second half shutout, but it wasn't enough to erase the first-half deficit.
- Marist generated seven corner kicks in the match, compared to zero opportunities for Navy.
- Maille McDermott recorded her second goal of the season in the contest.
- Marist out shot Navy 15-9 in the match
- Marist was called for eight fouls, compared to four fouls called against Navy.
- The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, Sep. 7, when Marist plays host to Saint Peter's
