Football Travels to Nationally-Ranked Lafayette

Red Foxes, Leopards Kick Off at 12:30 p.m. Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist football team plays its first road game of the 2024 season on Saturday, when the Red Foxes travel to Patriot League foe Lafayette. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
 
How to Follow
  • Geoff Brault (play-by-play) and Steve Eggink (analyst) will have the call on the Red Fox Network, with the pre-game show starting at 12:15 p.m.
  • Gary Laubach (play-by-play), Mike Joseph (analyst), and Meghan Caffrey (sideline) have the call on ESPN+, ATVN (Lehigh Valley/Poconos), and NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus.
  • Game updates will be available on X via Marist Football (@Marist_FBall).
 
New Era
  • The 2024 season marks the first for Mike Willis as Marist's head coach. The fifth head coach in program history, Willis was hired on Dec. 19, 2023 and is the third-youngest head coach in the FCS (32).
  • Willias replaced Jim Parady, who was the longest-tenured head coach in Division I at the time of his retirement (32 years).

  • Marist fell to Georgetown, 31-10, in its season opener last Saturday at Tenney Stadium.
  • The Red Foxes scored on their opening drive. Carter James' first collegiate touchdown, a three-yard rushing score, culminated a drive
  • Marist led 10-7 at halftime.
  • Neither team had a turnover in the contest.
  • Jackson Conners-McCarthy had team highs of eight receptions and 75 receiving yards.

About Lafayette
  • With a #18 Coaches' Poll ranking, the Leopards are the highest-ranked FCS team the Red Foxes have ever faced.
  • The Leopards are 1-1 with a loss to FBS foe Buffalo in their season opener, and a come-from-behind victory at CAA opponent Monmouth last week.
  • Three Leopards were named Preseason All-Americans: RB Jamar Curtis, LT Ryder Langsdale, and S Saiku White.
  • WR Elijah Steward was named Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week after 15 catches, 244 receiving yards, and the game-winning touchdown at Monmouth last week.
  • Head coach John Troxell was named Patriot League Coach of the Year in 2023, and is in his third season.
 
History vs. Lafayette
  • Marist is looking for its first win all-time against Lafayette. This is the seventh meeting between the teams.
  • This is the first meeting between the teams since 2008, and it's Marist's first trip to Lafayette since 2007.
