Volleyball Finishes Out Non-Conference Schedule

The Red Foxes Face Off Against Rhode Island Before Playing Either Villanova or Temple

VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania- The Marist volleyball team is set to play in the last two matches of its non-conference schedule at the Wildcat Challenge in Villanova, PA from Sept. 20-21. The Red Foxes will first face off against Rhode Island on Sept. 20 and the result of this match will determine whether they will play Villanova or Temple on Sept. 21.
 
Last Time Out
  • The Red Foxes participated in the Blue Hen Invitational from Sept. 13-14.
    • They were swept by both Delaware and Howard, dropping their record to 0-8
    • Jamison White was named to the Blue Hen Invitational All-Tournament Team.
  • Jamison White collected 33 assists and three points at the Invitational.
  • Taylor Miller had a team leading 12 kills across two matches.
  • CC Potter-Pessoa, in two matches played, collected eight digs and three assists.
Scouting Rhode Island
  • The Red Foxes and the Rams have faced each other twice before with the Rams victorious in both matchups.
    • Their most recent matchup took place on Sept. 9, 2022, where the Rams earned a 3-2 victory.
  • Rhode Island is 4-6 in 2024, falling 3-0 to Stony Brook in their last match on Sept. 13.
  • The Rams are led offensively by #13, Havyn Rolle, who has 88 kills.
    • Rolle also leads the Rams in blocks with 40
  • Defensive specialist, Dakota Henry leads the Rams defense with 107 digs.
Scouting Villanova
  • Villanova leads the all-time series 2-0 against the Red Foxes.
    • The Wildcats took the last matchup 3-0 on Sept. 6, 2019.
  • The Wildcats are 5-4 on the season, defeating Fairfield 3-1 in their previous outing on Sept. 15
  • Abby Harrell leads the Wildcats with 108 kills, also tallying 68 digs and 17 blocks.
  • Elizabeth Feczko and Cat Young are tied for the most digs on the team with 76.
Scouting Temple
  • If the Red Foxes matchup against Temple, this would mark the first ever matchup between these two teams.
  • The Owls are 5-5 in 2024
    • In their most recent matchup, the Owls defeated New Hampshire 3-2 on Sept. 15.
  • Taylor Davenport leads not only Temple, but the American Athletic Conference in kills with 173 in 36 sets played.
    • Davenport is a two-time AAC Offensive Player of the Week in 2024.
  • Chelci Banks is the Reigning AAC Defensive Player of the Week and has collected 24 blocks and 22 kills in 2024.
