POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- A thrilling battle at Tenney Stadium for the Red Foxes final match of a three-match homestand against LIU, Saturday night. The Red Foxes triumphed in their second-straight home win against LIU 3-2.
The Red Foxes controlled the first 64 minutes of play, scoring three unanswered goals.
Gijs Verheul scored his first career goal in the 15
th minute of the first half, which broke the ice in the scoring category.
Ending the first half,
Adam Rustami put the Red Foxes ahead 2-0 with a header, assisted by Steven Betz. The goal marked Rustami's first goal of the 2024 season.
Evan Marques joined the scoring with his first collegiate goal in the 64
th minute, giving the Red Foxes a 3-0 lead.
The Red Foxes have won two-straight matches, improving to 3-4 overall on the 2024 season. MAAC play begins on Sept. 28 against Fairfield.
